How to open your Family Banking account.

  • You and your minor child discuss their banking needs and choose one of our personal checking accounts.
  • Together, open and fund the account online or in a branch. As an adult, you’ll be a co-holder on this joint account, so select “additional applicant” on the form.
  • You don’t need to be an Associated Bank customer to open a Family Banking account.

The parent or adult guardian co-owner must meet and maintain Platinum Choice Checking, Monthly Average Relationship Balance listed on the Associated Choice Checking Product Disclosure; or Private Wealth qualifications listed on the Private Banking Checking Product Disclosures to obtain enhanced rates on select savings and money market accounts for both parent or adult guardian and minor co-owner accounts. For current rates, refer to an Associated Bank Deposit Account Rates Sheet or ask a banker for more information. Additional benefits include waived ATM fees and increased Overdraft Grace Zone coverage.

    For Platinum Choice, if the Monthly Average Relationship Balance drops below the required amount for qualification for 12 months, the parent or adult guardian and minor co-owner will no longer have the enhanced benefits until they qualify again. Balances are calculated at the end of the month qualifications are met.

    Minor co-owners under the age of 18 are not eligible to access Bill Pay, Credit Monitor, Zelle, Quickbooks and Secured Messages. Refer to the Digital Banking Service Terms and Conditions for more information. Minor co-owners retain the ability to lock and unlock their own debit card within digital banking. (1500)

  3. Associated Bank and MoneyPass® ATM use is free for Associated Bank customers. ATM owners outside of the Associated and MoneyPass networks may charge a fee. Associated Bank may charge a fee for using an out-of-network ATM. International fees may apply. Review your account disclosure and fee schedule for more details.   4. Overdraft grace zone – An Overdraft Fee will not be charged if account is overdrawn up to $100 for Associated Bank Platinum Choice benefit eligible customers or up to $50 for all other personal checking accounts. If an overdraft is paid by Associated Bank, a deposit must be made to bring the account back to a positive balance. Regular account requirements and fees for overdrafts will otherwise apply. Overdraft Protection Transfer service links your checking account with your other accounts at Associated Bank, including another checking account, savings account, money market account, Consumer Credit Card, Checking Reserve Line of Credit or Premier Line of Credit.
